Made with soul

Our collections are crafted from natural materials. Each piece is designed to celebrate the raw material it is made from - connecting us on a deeper level to the origins of the objects we bring into our homes.

A material first approach to design

Raw Clay Home was launched by creative studio Raw Clay in 2023. We had been growing increasingly frustrated by the fast homewares industry, and the lack of clarity around materials and sourcing by brands who claim to be a sustainable alternative.

We're deeply fascinated by natural materials and believe that connecting to the materials our homewares are made from will make us think differently about how we shop, and how we care for the pieces we have.

Natural circularity

Nature provides us with the most incredible, renewable resources. We work with the innate properties of raw materials to bring out their character, whilst ensuring the pieces we make with them can be repaired, refinished, repurposed, or recycled at the end of their life.

  • Trees

Trees can be turned into timber, paper, and charcoal, and with proper forest management, coppicing trees can bring huge biodiversity benefits. Pieces made from wood are easily maintained and repaired, and will biodegrade at the end of their life.

  • Earth

The process of extracting clay from the ground has a minimal impact on the environment. Raw clay can be used and reused continuously until it's been fired, and once fired it is incredibly long-lasting. It can be visibly mended if broken, or smashed into pieces and repurposed at the end of its original use.

  • Plants

Plants like flax and hemp can be harvested and spun into thread to make fabric that is hardwearing while in use, and biodegradable once finished with. We can also grind plants to make beautiful, natural pigments.

Celebrating craftsmanship

Humans have been working with natural materials for thousands of years, but have lost our connection to craft in recent decades. We're here to champion the skilled makers who have mastered their craft, and who demonstrate the quiet beauty of a slower, more intentional making process.
